On Friday, November 23rd 2019, over 150 students from various courses in the Cantonese Language Program spent their evening surrounded by music, food, and movie entertainment with their instructors and teaching assistants.
The three-hour event kicked off with karaoke and mahjong. Students grabbed this opportunity to socialize with each other. Others took their time to select Cantonese songs to sing with their friends. Different forms of entertainment kept all audience excited while waiting for their peers’ delicious home-made food to arrive.
Over 50 dishes were presented on the dining table. Moreover, students voted for their favourite dish to support their peers and awarded three groups with the “Most popular dish” title who received prizes.
Following the award ceremony, students were all ready to watch the movie ‘A Home with a View’. Instructors, teaching assistants, and students laughed and enjoyed the movie together. Everyone left the night happy making new friends and forming stronger bonds.
The 2nd Annual Cantonese Fun Night provided opportunities for students from the beginning and intermediate classes to mingle and share their passion of Cantonese learning. We would like to thank all faculty members, teaching assistants, and student volunteers, whose efforts made the event again another great success.
